Under Todd’s leadership, Summit Prep has been named one of the Top 100 public high schools in America and is featured as an education solution in the nationally acclaimed documentary, Waiting for Superman.
Todd earned a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Denver, where he was also an All-American lacrosse player and team captain. He went on to earn a Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering from Cornell University and a second Master’s in Education from Stanford. After Stanford, Todd taught physics for five years at Hillsdale High, the International School of Lisbon, and Summit Preparatory Charter. From 1995-2000, before beginning his current career in education, he successfully built a Colorado residential real estate company, the Melton Group.
When not thinking about how to fix public education, Todd enjoys spending time with his wife of 10 years and their two young children, ages 3 and 1. He also enjoys running, surfing, and following all things Colorado sports.
Brian is proud to come from a family of educators. He first discovered his love for teaching while working as a volunteer educator, running an after-school program where he taught low-income middle school students how to build and use computers. He is moving into administration after four years of teaching 9th-grade Physics at Summit Prep. Previous to that, he was the International Baccalaureate Physics teacher at the Lincoln School in San Jose, Costa Rica. Brian has given presentations on science education to both local and national organizations including Stanford University, the National Science Teachers Association, and KIPP Charter Schools.
Before teaching, Brian worked as a Mechanical Engineer with Dell, Inc. in Austin, TX. He holds a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from Northwestern University and a Master’s degree in Education from Stanford University.
In his spare time, Brian likes to garden, go bike riding, and take hikes with his wife and their dog.
Penelope is excited to join the administration team after four wonderful years of teaching 9th and 10th grade English at Summit Prep. She first discovered her desire to transform education while teaching a summer reading enrichment course that helped foster a love of reading for struggling students. As a school leader, Penelope has made significant contributions to Summit’s academic success and to the teacher professional development program.
Penelope attended UC Berkeley and earned two Bachelor’s degrees in Political Science and Communications. Prior to joining the education field, Penelope worked as a film publicist in Hollywood and managed publicity opportunities for independent films. She earned a Master’s degree in English Education from Columbia University Teachers College in New York, where she student-taught at Bank Street School for Children. When not thinking about how to improve public education, Penelope enjoys baking, dancing, traveling, and hosting dinner parties at home.
When not helping keep Summit a well-oiled machine, Roger enjoys spending time with his puppy Sushi and rooting on the 49ers. Roger attended Saint Mary's College, where he majored in Politics. Roger worked for educational non-profits College Track & College Summit before coming to Summit Prep in 2008. Growing up in this very community, Roger is proud to help these students meet their fullest potential and strive for a higher education.
When not working in the corner office, the lunchroom or the "Cave", Ann is a continuing student at Foothill College. She has three daughters and one "most adorable" grandson that she visits as often as possible. Ann has worked in charter schools for eight years. She is an avid seamstress and enjoys reading and watching movies. Ann is happy to be a part of Summit's ideals, principles, faculty and student body.
When not trying to meet Summit's goal of sending 100% of students to college. Elana enjoys yoga, skiing, music and cooking. Elana graduated from Barnard College, Columbia University where she majored in Political Science. She then received her M.A. in Education and teaching credential from Stanford University. She taught AP US History at Summit from 2007-2009. Before coming to Summit, Elana taught social science at San Mateo High School in San Mateo, CA. In her previous careers, she was a founding employee of both Ask.com and Citysearch, as well as an Americorps member.
